Interconnection — power infrastructure for data center campuses
← SpecialtiesSP-01 / Stage 1 of 8

Interconnection

Interconnection is where most data center power timelines are won or lost. We place the people who navigate queues, studies and utility agreements.

// Overview

What interconnection teams do

Core skills we screen for
  • Load-flow and system impact studies
  • Utility large-load and tariff processes
  • FERC, NERC and RTO/ISO procedures
  • Facilities and service agreement negotiation
  • Schedule and risk tracking across portfolios

Interconnection professionals manage the path from a load request to a signed service agreement. They coordinate studies with utilities and grid operators, track upgrade requirements and negotiate cost and schedule.

Because a delay at this stage can push a campus back by years, companies now treat interconnection leadership as a strategic hire, often reporting directly to the head of energy or development.

// Roles we place
  1. 01Interconnection Manager
  2. 02Transmission Planning Engineer
  3. 03Utility Relations Lead
  4. 04Power Systems Studies Engineer
// What makes it hard
Multi-year queue backlogs
Study and cluster process changes
Very few people with real utility-side experience

Our networks in interconnection help clients reach people who aren’t actively looking — usually the ones who matter most.

// Common questions

Interconnection hiring, answered.

How long does a interconnection search take?+

Most interconnection searches produce a shortlist within three to five weeks and close within two to three months. Senior and highly specialized roles can take longer, which is why we recommend starting before the project needs the hire.

Where do you find interconnection candidates?+

We recruit from utility transmission planning, rto/iso staff, renewable and storage developers, power systems consulting firms, as well as from data center companies. Many of the strongest candidates are not actively looking.

Do you fill confidential roles?+

Yes. Many searches are confidential. We describe the opportunity without naming the client until a candidate is qualified and interested.

Can you help us define the role?+

Yes. We often help clients scope interconnection roles, set reporting lines and benchmark compensation before the search begins.
